Did the U.S. torture in past wars (Vietnam, Korea, WWII, etc.)?

Was it all propoganda that the U.S. takes the high road compared to the savages that we were at war with? Has America been just as bad about torture methods as the countries we complain about? And does the U.S. follow the Geneva Convention only when it benefits America?
